Privacy Notice

1. Introduction

AOS RC LTD respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Notice will inform you how we look after your personal data when you visit our drone compatibility web application (the Platform), regardless of where you visit from, and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Purpose of this Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice aims to give you information on how AOS RC LTD collects and processes your personal data through your use of this Platform.

This Platform is a free, public informational tool. You do not need to register an account, log in, or provide any billing details to use it. This notice applies strictly to the technical data collected automatically when you browse the Platform, the local storage and cookie used to run the site, and any information you choose to submit via our feedback / “Report an issue” feature.

It does not cover the data practices of the third-party affiliate retailers to whom we link, as they operate their own independent websites with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies separately.

3. Controller

AOS RC LTD, registered in England under company number 16332943, is the data controller and responsible for your personal data (collectively referred to as “AOS RC LTD”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this notice).

AOS RC LTD is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller under registration number ZB903714.

We have appointed a data privacy manager who is responsible for overseeing questions in relation to this notice. If you have any questions about this Privacy Notice, our privacy practices, or if you wish to raise a formal data protection complaint, please contact us at data@aos-rc.com.

4. The Data We Collect

Because this Platform does not require user registration or purchases, we do not intentionally collect or store identifiable information (such as your name) or contact details (such as a personal email address) during standard browsing.

However, we may collect, use, store, and transfer the following types of personal data depending on your interactions with the site:

• Technical Data: This may include your internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, operating system and platform, and device type. Where collected, this is gathered automatically by our web hosting infrastructure’s server logs.
• Usage Data: Information about how you navigate the Platform — such as which components you look at and whether you click through to a retailer. This is strictly anonymous and aggregated to maintain our public popularity tallies; it is not linked to your identity.
• User-Submitted Data (feedback / “Report an issue”): If you choose to use the feedback feature, we will collect the title, message, and any attachments you add. While we explicitly ask you not to include personal data, any personal information you voluntarily type into these fields will be processed by us.

We do not collect any special category data (such as health or biometric data). The Platform is restricted to users aged 18 and older, or users under the direct supervision of a responsible adult. We do not knowingly collect data related to children.

5. How We Collect Your Data

• Direct interactions: You may give us data when you choose to use the feedback feature on our website or when you communicate with us directly via email regarding technical support queries.
• Automated technologies: As you interact with the Platform, our web hosting provider’s server logs may automatically record Technical Data about your device and requests. The Platform itself uses your browser’s local storage and a single cookie to remember your preferences (see section 13).

6. Legal Basis for Processing

• Legitimate interest: We rely on our legitimate interest to process Technical Data for the purposes of maintaining platform security, detecting malicious activity, troubleshooting technical faults, and understanding aggregate, anonymous usage trends to improve our compatibility tool.
• Consent: We rely on your explicit consent when you click the “I Agree” button on our initial pop-up window. You also provide consent when you voluntarily submit content through the feedback feature. You may withdraw consent for the stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage and cookies.

7. How We Use Your Data

• Provide, manage, and protect the technical infrastructure of the Platform, including hosting maintenance, troubleshooting, and data security filtering.
• Investigate and resolve data inaccuracies, incorrect compatibility flags, or software bugs that you draw to our attention via the feedback feature.
• Generate aggregated, anonymous statistical insights, such as updating our public running tally of product popularity when users click out to an affiliate retailer link.
• Remember your local device preferences, so the Platform recognises that you have already accepted our terms of use and can restore your current build.

8. Marketing

We do not collect communications details or communication preferences through this Platform. Consequently, we do not send marketing communications through this Platform, and we do not share any personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. If you voluntarily include contact details in a feedback submission, we will use them strictly to address your report and not for marketing.

9. Sharing Your Data

• Hosting provider: We share Technical Data with our web hosting provider to deliver the website pages reliably to your device. They are authorised to process your data only as required to perform their services and are required to keep it secure.
• Affiliate retailers (redirection): When you click a product link, you are redirected to an external retailer website using a link that carries our affiliate tracking parameters. No personal data, build contents, or identity details are shared by us with the retailer during this redirect.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for unrelated third-party marketing.

10. International Transfers

Some of our underlying technical service providers, including our web hosting provider, may process or store data outside the United Kingdom, which may include servers located in the United States or the European Union. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms as required under UK data protection law.

11. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, accessed, altered, or disclosed in an unauthorised way. We restrict access to those with a clear business need to know, and we have procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and to notify you and any applicable regulator where legally required.

12. Data Retention

• Technical server logs: IP addresses captured automatically by our hosting infrastructure are retained for a limited period (typically no more than 90 days) to monitor security and detect malicious traffic, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
• Feedback / issue reports: Submissions are stored in our database, and — where email forwarding is configured — also sent to our support inbox. They are retained for up to 2 years to help us track long-term software bugs and data-quality trends, unless you request earlier erasure.

13. Cookies and Local Storage

To keep this tool simple and privacy-preserving, we deliberately avoid analytics and advertising cookies. We do not embed third-party trackers. What we actually store on your device is limited to the following:

• Terms-acceptance: a cookie (aos_terms, kept for about 12 months) plus a matching flag in your browser’s local storage, so that you are not prompted with the welcome pop-up on every visit.
• Your current build: saved in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) so you don’t lose your progress between visits. It stays until you click Reset or clear your browser data.
• Display preferences: your chosen display currency and the height of the cart panel are saved in local storage for your convenience.

Two things people often assume are cookies are not handled with cookies here: our public popularity tally is counted on our server as an anonymous per-product number when you click “Check Out” (it does not identify you or follow you onto the retailer’s site); and the page you were viewing when you send feedback is attached to that single report at the moment you submit it, not stored in a cookie or used to track you.

You can control, block, or delete this storage through your browser settings. If you clear it, the welcome pop-up will reappear and your saved build and preferences will be forgotten. We do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, due to the lack of a common standard.

14. Third-Party Links

The Platform includes affiliate links to third-party websites. We do not control these websites and are not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices. When you leave our Platform, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

15. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights to access, correction, erasure, objection, restriction, portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. Because we do not hold account profiles or names for this Platform, exercising these rights will typically apply only to technical server logs or content you voluntarily typed into the feedback feature that included personal information. You will not usually have to pay a fee, and we aim to respond to legitimate requests within one month.

16. Data Protection Complaints Procedure

If you wish to submit a formal complaint about how your personal data is handled, contact our data privacy manager at data@aos-rc.com. We will acknowledge receipt in writing within 30 days, investigate thoroughly, and issue a final written response. If you remain dissatisfied, you may escalate to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection.

17. Changes to This Policy

We keep this Privacy Notice under regular review and may update it from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Platform following any updates constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
